| Working conditions: | Work location is primarily in Atlanta, Georgia at the Delta Air Lines pilot training center. Work hours are dictated by training period assigned. Duty may involve working nights, weekends and holidays. Travel to off-site training locations may be required. Exact schedule is based on customer needs. Normally expected to work 8 to 15 days per month but may be scheduled for 20 or more as dictated by customer’s training needs. There is no guarantee of minimum number of work days. |
| Job description: | General. Responsible for instructing pilots in flight procedures and techniques and for preparing them for validations and evaluations. Specific. Conducts task and line oriented training in Full Flight Simulator and Flight Training Device for Delta Air Lines line pilots and pilots from other carriers. Provides instruction and certifies completion of modules within the flight training segment of the Delta Qualification and Continuing Qualification curricula. Develops and prepares module outlines, study materials, and instructional techniques as dictated by curriculum and pilot needs. Gives briefings on various subjects relating to operation of Delta (or other air line) aircraft in accordance with approved policies and procedures. Masters operation of various aircraft components and instruments, as well as techniques for controlling aircraft during normal and non-normal maneuvers. Observes pilots’ actions during training modules to ensure assimilation of classroom instruction and to comply with Federal Aviation Regulations. Evaluates pilots’ progress, including oral interviews, using approved qualification standards and grading criteria. |
| Job qualifications: | Required. 2000 hours experience as an airman (this requirement waived for NWA ATIs). One year experience as flight training instructor/evaluator under Part 121, 135, 141, or military operations. One year experience as PIC or SIC on a turbojet airplane. Desired.
