Sun Country Airlines - Flight Simulator Instructor

Sun Country Airlines is currently accepting applications for Non-Seniority List Instructors

Sun Country Airlines is seeking highly experienced Professional Aviators to join our team as Non-Seniority List Instructors (NSLIs). The NSLIs will supplement our existing cadre of Instructors and Check Airmen by conducting B-737 pilot qualification training (procedures, maneuvers, and line oriented) in Flight Training Devices under the approved Sun Country Advanced Qualification Program.

As a daily contractor, the NSLI will conduct training events in Integrated Procedures Training devices and Full Flight Simulators for the Sun Country Training department. The NSLI will be subject to initial, periodic, and random performance reviews both as a pilot and as an instructor during Initial and Continuing Qualification training

Compensation

  • Pay starts at $500 per event (8 hours ground event or 4 hours Simulator time plus brief/debrief)

Scheduling

  • Instructors must be available nights weekends and holidays, as needed
  • Instructors will work primarily in MSP, but must also be willing to work at non-MSP "off-site" training centers

Travel Benefits

  • Positive space travel on Sun Country from residence to/from training location for training assignments
  • Hotel room is provided if residence is more than 50 miles from training location
  • Active NSLIs receive S4 standby/non-rev privileges on Sun Country

Duties and Skills

  • Must understand the role and responsibilities of being an airline pilot including but not limited to the following:
    • Pilot in Command and Second in Command duties, roles and responsibilities
    • Expectations for professionalism, leadership, decision making, Crew Resource and Threat and Error Management
    • Sun Country company policies and available resources
  • Must be an excellent communicator
  • Must be a good listener and willing to solicit attendees for honest feedback on course critiques
  • Must be able to present an organized briefing and leads substantive, interactive discussions, including but not limited to:
    • Closely adhere to approved curricula and allotted time slots for each instructional module.
    • Manage classroom and training resources
    • Set-up and breakdown of presentation materials (power point, manuals, white-boards, handouts, etc.)
  • Train and Evaluate pilot performance in all phases of flight, including during normal and non-normal situations.

Minimum Qualifications to apply

  • Must have served as a Captain at a 14 CFR Part 121 Certified Air Carrier
  • Must have a minimum of 3,000 TT and 1,000 as Pilot in Command)
  • Embrace diverse people, thinking and styles

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent
  • Applicant should be familiar with technology required for the job including, but not limited to:
    • Use of Apple iPad tablet to access instructor syllabus and briefing materials, navigational charts, operating manuals, periodic bulletins, turbulence charts, and more
    • Establishing internet or cell data connections to access company information and schedules.
    • Use of Power Point, email, and email folders
  • Where permitted by applicable law, must have received or be willing to receive the COVID-19 vaccine

Preferred Qualifications

  • Simulator Instructor, Simulator Check Airman, or Aircrew Program Designee experience at a 14 CFR Part 121 Certified Air Carrier within the last 24 months
  • B737 type rating and line pilot experience
  • Sun Country pilot experience
