Position Summary

Pilot in Command CE-208. Captain is responsible for the preflight planning and the operation of the flight in compliance with FAR 135 and the Operations Specifications.

• Keeping current and licensed in all respects with regard to the requirements of FAR 135 and the Company.
• Exercising command authority and command responsibility.
• Ascertaining that they are in uniform, properly licensed, and in possession of the required licenses and documents for the flight to be performed.
• Approving all flight paperwork, forms, and reports required by the FAA and company in insure accuracy and proper routing.
• Ascertaining that the aircraft flight log contains the proper maintenance due items.
• Ascertaining that the aircraft has been properly closed and secured for flight.
• Ascertaining that the flight kit, proper equipment, appropriate and current charts, maps en-route and approach plates, etc. are aboard the aircraft prior to departure.
• Conducting a proper pre-flight weather check for the route(s) about to be flown. If unsatisfactory conditions exist or are forecast, he shall inform Flight Following of a mutually agreeable alternate route or appropriate action.
• Securing a flight release authorization from Flight Following prior to departure, filing of a flight plan, and initiating the aircraft flight log form.
• Familiarizing self and complying with all procedures, limitations, advisories, notams, etc., to insure the overall safe, efficient, and appropriate conduct of the flight in accordance with FAR 135 and Company procedures.
• Operating the aircraft within prescribed limits and weight requirements at all times, and ascertaining that the correct and sufficient fuel, oil, oxygen, and other fluids are aboard before each departure and ascertains that the weight and balance paperwork is accurately prepared and signed and the aircraft is free of contaminants.
• Assuring that no pilot operates an aircraft in a careless or reckless manner so as to endanger life or property, during flight or while on the ground.
• Logging all discrepancies encountered in flight in the aircraft flight log.
• The Pilot in Command is responsible for the initiation, continuation, diversion, and termination of a flight in compliance with FAR’s, Operations Specification and Company operating policies.
• Exercising proper use of all aircraft check lists at all times.
• Performing such duties that may be required or assigned by the Chief Pilot or their representative.
