CommutAir - Captain Accelerated Program

Founded in 1989, CommutAir operates as United Express and is majority-owned by Champlain Enterprises, Inc. and 40% owned by United Airlines, Inc. CommutAir operates more than 1,500 weekly flights to 75+ destinations, using the Embraer ERJ145 aircraft, from bases in Houston, Denver, Newark, NJ, and Washington-Dulles. CommutAir's 1300+ employees are well-known in the industry for fostering a family culture and a friendly work environment.

Pilots with applicable Part 121/135 hours are eligible for immediate upgrades during Basic Indoc after they clear CommutAir's Captain Review Board. Captain-qualified pilots are also eligible for the fast-track path to United Airlines via the United Aviate Program.

Compensation: First Officer and Captain Year 1

  • First Year First Officer-$38.59/flight hour
  • Captain Pay $67.54/flight hour after successful completion of initial sim training
  • $1.85 per diem
  • 100% Deadhead and Cancellation pay

Minimum Qualifications

  • Current FAA ATP MEL license with instrument rating
  • 1,000 hours of applicable 121 SIC or 135 PIC experience (FAR 121.436)
  • Instrument current-logged 20 hours of flight time in the past six months
  • Current FAA First Class Medical
  • FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator's Permit
  • Valid Passport
  • Able to travel internationally without restriction, especially in Canada and Mexico.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
