CommutAir - Captain Accelerated Program

Founded in 1989, CommutAir operates as United Express and is majority-owned by Champlain Enterprises, Inc. and 40% owned by United Airlines, Inc. CommutAir operates more than 1,000 weekly flights to 40+ destinations, using the Embraer ERJ145 aircraft, from bases in Newark, NJ, and Washington-Dulles. CommutAir’s 1100+ employees are well-known in the industry for fostering a family culture and a friendly work environment.

Over the next two years, CommutAir is in need for 200 captains to staff their tripling ERJ145 fleet flying exclusively for United Airlines. Pilots with applicable Part 121/135 hours are eligible for a sign-on bonus up to $50,000 and immediate upgrades during basic Indoc after they clear CommutAir’s Captain Review Board. Captain-qualified pilots are on the fast-tracked path to United Airlines via the United Airlines Aviate Program.

Compensation: First Officer and Captain Year 1
  • First Year First Officer-$38.02/flight hour
  • Captain Pay $66.54 after completion of initial sim training
  • $1.85 per diem
  • 100% Deadhead and Cancellation pay
  • 75-hour monthly guarantee
  • Paid Training and Lodging- Single occupancy

Fleet – fly our tripling in size all-jet fleet of Embraer-145XR aircraft! Over the next two years we plan to triple the size of our fleet to up to 61 aircraft.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Current FAA ATP MEL license with instrument rating
  • 1,000 hours of applicable 121 SIC or 135 PIC experience (FAR 121.436)
  • Instrument current-logged 20 hours of flight time in the past six months
  • Current FAA First Class Medical
  • FCC Restricted Radiotelephone Operator's Permit
  • Valid Passport
  • Able to travel internationally without restriction, especially to/from Canada
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States
