College Bridge Program First Officer (University of North Dakota)

College Bridge Program First Officer Requirements

Step 1: Enroll: Students enrolled in the designated major at University of North Dakota that includes flight training to qualify for RATP under FAR 61.160.

Step 2: Apply: Applicants must apply for entrance into the Bridge Program by selecting the "Apply Now" button at the bottom of this page. Applicants must also:

  • Be a Junior, Senior or CFI
  • Have acquired Commercial Certificate with Instrument and Multi-Engine Rating
  • Attended an in-person recruiting event at their respective school

Step 3: Flight Instructor Position: Applicants must secure a Flight Instructor position with

  • UND

Step 4: Official Interview (In-Person): At 300 hours of dual given, applicants need to email pilothiring@suncountry.com and express their interest in an official interview. Applicants must also update their application on Airline Apps. Applications will then be evaluated and selected candidates will receive an "invite to interview".

Step 5: First Officer Contingent Job Offer (CJO): Applicants must:

  • Receive a Contingent Job Offer (CJO)
  • Graduate within the appropriate major, including flight training, to qualify for RATP under FAR 61.160

All Benefits below are provided on the first day of class as a Sun Country First Officer.

Flight Training

  • Pilots receive iPads for all flight manuals and navigational data

  • Sun Country operates an in-house Certified Training Program taught by Sun Country instructors. Successful applicants will receive contractual pay, benefits and single occupancy hotel accommodations during training

Pay

  • Starting Pay
  • First year pay for First Officers is $52.00/hour
  • Premium Pay
  • Additional flying is available at up to 150%
  • 100% Cancellation and Dead Head Pay

Minimum Qualifications to Start Class

  • Legal authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be able to read, write, fluently speak and understand the English Language
  • Current FAA First Class Medical Certificate
  • FCC Radio License
  • Valid US passport or valid Passport with Green Card and the ability to travel to and from all cities and countries served by Sun Country
  • Valid US driver's license
  • Recent flight experience preferred

Restricted ATP Eligible - 1000 Hours Minimum (Aviation College Background)

  • 1,000 total hours
  • 100 hours can be simulator time.
  • 250 hours needs to be PIC in an airplane
  • At least 21 years old
  • 200 hours of cross country (100 hours of which needs to be PIC cross country in an airplane)
  • 100 hours of night (25 hours of which needs to be PIC night in an airplane)
  • 75 hours of instrument
  • 25 hours of multi-engine
